Red Sparowes est un groupe de post-rock originaire de Los Angeles, Californie (USA) formé en 2003 et signé sur le label Neurot Recordings.

Ils ne sont pas légion, les artistes américains qui citent Mao Zedong dans le texte, ni ceux qui rappellent les ravages que le Grand Timoner imputait aux moineaux — sparowes, en anglais. Mais les Red Sparowes, une intrigante formation de Los Angeles post-rock, ambiante et conceptuelle, pas si éloignée de l’esthétique des premiers enregistrements de Sonic Youth, s’amuse à détourner avec un brin de cynisme les sentences du Petit Livre Rouge pour dénoncer toute forme de totalitarisme et de conditionnement des masses
