Lonnie Rashied Lynn dit Common est un rappeur américain né le 13 mars 1972 à Chicago dans l'Illinois aux États-Unis.

Common est né et élevé dans les quartiers sud de Chicago, une ville dans laquelle la scène hip hop possède peu de représentants. Aux débuts des années 1990, son premier nom de scène fut Common Sense, qu'il dut raccourcir en raison de son usage antérieur par une formation rock. Jusqu'en 2000 et à l'image de Gangstarr, A Tribe Called Quest ou The Roots, sa musique se caractérisait par une large utilisation d'échantillons de morceaux jazz et soul, de même qu'une écriture pacifiste et érudite.
